NoMad a Blank Slate for new upscale cafe
As NoMad continues its upward trajectory, casual delis are disappearing — and being replaced by a hybrid of upscale coffee shop/cafés.
The latest is Blank Slate Coffee + Kitchen, which opens later this month at 121 Madison Ave at 30th St.
The 1,000 square-foot space will have 36 seats and offer “gourmet egg sandwiches” for breakfast and all-day dishes like avocado toast, sandwiches, salads and small plates along with craft beer and wines. A small marketplace will sell artisanal goods.
Get healthy, commuters! Juice Press just signed a lease to open a store in Grand Central Terminal — its 31st site. The 490 square-foot space is slated to open this spring on GST’s main floor, across from Starbucks.
A prime space will open in Midtown after Columbus Day.
Ocean Prime, a 7,400 square- foot eatery from the Cameron Mitchell Restaurant Group, will open at 123 W. 52nd St.
The restaurant, which seats 247 people, is designed by ICrave.
The menu will feature fresh seafood, along with a raw bar, as well as steaks and desserts — like a Ten Layer Carrot Cake — and a wine list with more than 50 by-the-glass pours.
We hear …
That Bespoke Kitchen, a welcome West Village addition, has just launched brunch (Oct. 4) from talented Chef Franco Barrio, a Food Network “Chopped” winner, and Casa Mono, and Picholine alum. The 1,600 square-foot space is located at 615 ½ Hudson St.
